The Supreme Court has overturned a High Court ruling that nullified the 2024 parliamentary election results for the Kpandai Constituency in the Northern Region.
In a majority decision of 4-1, with Justice Gabriel Pwamang dissenting, the apex court on Wednesday set aside the November 24, 2025 judgment of the Tamale High Court, together with all consequential orders arising from it.
The ruling effectively reinstates New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate Matthew Nyindam as the Member of Parliament for Kpandai and cancels a planned by-election. The Electoral Commission had earlier announced a by-election after the Speaker of Parliament declared the seat vacant in compliance with the High Court’s annulment.
The Supreme Court’s decision brings finality to the legal dispute over the constituency’s 2024 parliamentary results.
