Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams to headline continental sports media Congress in The Gambia

The Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, is set to deliver a keynote address at a major pan-African sports forum next year.

Minister Adams will lead Ghana’s delegation to the 2026 Association of International Sports Press (AIPS) Africa Congress in Banjul, The Gambia. His central speaking role places Ghana at the forefront of a critical continental discussion.

He will address the congress on the pivotal theme, “The Role of Government in Africa Sports Development.” The session will be chaired by the President of the Republic of The Gambia, His Excellency Adama Barrow, highlighting the high-level governmental focus of the discourse.

Minister Adams will join a panel of leading West African sports policymakers, including:

· Mr. Bakary Y. Bajide, Minister for Youth and Sports, The Gambia
· Hon. Shehu Dikko, National Sports Commissioner, Nigeria
· Hon. Abdoul Kassim Ibrahim Fomba, Minister for Youth and Sports, Mali
· Hon. Khady Gaye, Minister for Youth and Sports, Senegal

Also representing Ghana at the congress will be Mr. Charles Osei Asibey, the Secretary General of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG).

The AIPS Africa Congress is a premier gathering for sports journalists, administrators, and stakeholders across the continent. It serves as a vital platform for shaping policy, media relations, and development strategies for African sports. Minister Adams’s featured participation underscores Ghana’s active and influential role in driving these continental conversations forward.
