Search for MH370 to resume over a decade after disappearance

Malaysian authorities have announced that the search for Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 will resume on 30 December, more than 11 years after the Boeing 777 vanished with 239 people on board. The 55-day search, initially begun in March, was suspended due to poor weather conditions.

Ocean Infinity leads “no find, no fee” operation
Exploration firm Ocean Infinity is conducting the search under a $70 million “no find, no fee” contract. Previous efforts, including a multinational search involving 60 ships and 50 aircraft in 2017, and a 2018 Ocean Infinity attempt, failed to locate the wreckage.

MH370 remains one of aviation’s greatest mysteries
The flight disappeared in 2014 en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, losing contact less than an hour after take-off and deviating from its planned path. Investigations suggest deliberate manipulation of the plane’s controls, but no definitive cause has been determined. Authorities note that conclusive answers are only possible if the wreckage is found.
