Sammy Gyamfi, the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Gold Board, has pushed back against perceptions that his transition to the public sector represents a shift toward a corporate identity, insisting that he remains a politician at his core.

In an interview scheduled to air on the upcoming Business Edition of PM Express on Joy News, Mr. Gyamfi clarified that his new role does not alter his fundamental political alignment. He described his current work as an extension of political duty rather than a departure from it.

“I’m still deeply involved in politics. What we are doing is political work, so I don’t consider myself a corporate figure,” he stated.

Mr. Gyamfi also addressed his ongoing role as the National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). While he confirmed he retains the title, he acknowledged that his demanding schedule at the Gold Board has limited his public-facing duties for the party.

“I still hold that role, but my availability has significantly decreased,” he said, noting that the party’s communication machinery has not been hindered by his reduced visibility. He credited the party’s communication team, including a deputy and the Minister for Government Communications, for ensuring a seamless operation in his stead.

“We’re working together seamlessly,” Mr. Gyamfi added.

Despite being less visible on media platforms in recent weeks, the CEO emphasized that he remains active in political strategy behind the scenes. He expressed confidence in the next generation of party communicators, praising their competence.

“We have a strong team of young, talented communicators who are continuing the work we started,” he said. “At the right time, people will see more of us.”

Acknowledging that the public may have noticed his reduced media presence, Mr. Gyamfi indicated that he would make efforts to re-engage when possible. However, he stressed that his immediate priority is achieving the mandate of his new office.

“Our main task now is to transform Ghana’s gold sector and ensure the country fully benefits from its natural resources,” he concluded.
