Salaga South MP rallies support for rainstorm victims, donates relief items

In a swift response to a devastating rainstorm, the Member of Parliament for the Salaga South Constituency, Hon. Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, has provided critical relief to affected residents across five communities.

The torrential rain, accompanied by fierce winds on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, caused widespread destruction, ripping roofs from houses and destroying valuable household items and property. The hardest-hit areas include Salaga, Kpembe, Sisipe, Nkwanta, and the Water Works community, where numerous families have been left homeless and struggling to salvage their belongings.

To alleviate their plight, the MP donated essential supplies including 11 packets of roofing sheets, bags of rice, cooking oil, plastic buckets, and an undisclosed sum of money to support the victims. The aid is intended to help families commence urgent repairs on their damaged homes and provide immediate sustenance as they navigate the recovery process.

The items were formally presented on behalf of the MP by the Salaga South Constituency Chairman, Haruna Abdul Aziz, alongside officials from the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), led by Municipal Director Tahiru Jawula Misbawu. During the presentation, the delegation reassured the victims of the MP’s unwavering commitment to their welfare, emphasizing her dedication to supporting constituents in times of crisis.

The gesture follows a directive from Hon. Ibrahimah, who on Wednesday, March 11, tasked the Constituency Chairman and NADMO officials with conducting an on-the-ground assessment of the damage. The visit allowed the team to engage directly with affected families, evaluate the scale of the destruction, and convey the MP’s heartfelt sympathies.

Beneficiaries of the donation expressed profound gratitude for the timely intervention, describing it as a compassionate and much-needed lifeline. Many noted that the support would significantly ease the burden of rebuilding their homes and restoring their livelihoods after the disaster.
