AfroTalks has confirmed that distinguished Pan-African scholar and global thought leader Professor Patrick Loch Otieno Lumumba will speak at its upcoming Kigali edition, marking a significant addition to one of the continent’s premier forums for dialogue, innovation, and systems thinking.
The announcement has generated considerable anticipation among delegates, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and young African leaders expected to convene in Rwanda’s capital for the five-day gathering. Widely celebrated for his incisive oratory on leadership, governance, and African identity, Prof. Lumumba’s participation is set to lend both intellectual depth and heightened international visibility to the event.
AfroTalks Kigali 2026 is being held under the theme, “Beyond Borders: Building Systems for Africa’s Integration.” The platform brings together a cross-section of thinkers and practitioners—from policymakers and institutional leaders to startup founders, creatives, and investors—to explore pathways toward deeper political, economic, and cultural integration across the continent.
A consistent voice in challenging Africa to confront its realities while embracing its potential, Prof. Lumumba has emerged as one of Africa’s foremost advocates for ethical leadership, institutional reform, and Pan-African solidarity. Through lectures, policy engagements, and public discourse worldwide, he has inspired renewed conversations on governance, accountability, and the continent’s agency in shaping its future.
At AfroTalks Kigali, Prof. Lumumba is expected to address critical questions surrounding Africa’s trajectory—namely, how the continent can strengthen its institutions, harness its youth demographic, and develop frameworks that facilitate cross-border trade, collaboration, and innovation.
His participation aligns with AfroTalks’ core mission of amplifying African narratives, advancing the African Dream, and informing policy through research and dialogue. The platform has evolved into a space where intellectual discourse intersects with actionable solutions, convening individuals committed to both discussing and actively constructing Africa’s future.
The Kigali edition will feature a diverse program, including the AfroTalks Conference, the Made in Africa Trade Fair, and AfroPitch—a startup competition designed to spotlight emerging innovators across the continent. Attendees will also have access to masterclasses, high-level networking sessions, and curated discussions aimed at fostering cross-border partnerships.
Other confirmed speakers include Mariama Jalloh (Sierra Leone), startup strategist and investor; Ras Mubarak (Ghana), former Member of Parliament and Convenor of Open Africa 2030; Summy Smart Francis (Nigeria), Founder of the Global Entrepreneurship Festival; Autumn Marie (Rwanda), Founder and CEO of KGL FWD; and Mweembe Sikaulu (Zambia), communications and brand specialist, among others.
“Prof. Lumumba’s contribution reflects AfroTalks’ commitment to bringing some of the continent’s most influential voices into conversations that matter,” said Bright Tenbil, Founder of AfroTalks. “His input is expected to spark meaningful debate and inspire a new generation of leaders who see Africa’s challenges not as barriers but as opportunities for transformation.”
With preparations underway, AfroTalks Kigali is poised to serve as a key forum for continental progress, convening minds dedicated to shaping Africa’s next chapter.
