A prominent figure in the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Boakye Kyeremanteng Agyarko, has officially thrown his hat into the ring for the party’s national chairmanship, vowing to rebuild the NPP into a formidable and disciplined election-winning force ahead of the upcoming general elections.
Mr. Agyarko made his intentions known during an appearance on the Dwabrem political talk show on OTEC FM on Thursday, February 25, 2026. He argued that the party’s current structure requires urgent and comprehensive rebuilding to restore its foundational strength.
“I want to rebuild the NPP to its solid strength,” Mr. Agyarko stated. “The party needs people like me to build it into an election-winning machine.”
The former Minister for Energy was unequivocal about his primary objective: securing victory for the party’s flagbearer in the presidential race. He declared that all his efforts would be channeled towards ensuring Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia ascends to the highest office of the land.
“My core aim is to make our flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, become President of Ghana,” he affirmed.
Central to Mr. Agyarko’s campaign message is the promise to instill discipline within the party. Citing his own leadership approach, he pledged to bring order and accountability to the party’s ranks and file, which he sees as essential for cohesion and effectiveness.
“With my ‘no nonsense’ track record, I will instill the much-needed discipline among our ranks and file,” he said.
Beyond structural and disciplinary reforms, the chairmanship hopeful emphasized the critical role of the party’s base. He committed to a comprehensive grassroots mobilization strategy aimed at re-energizing supporters and fostering a renewed sense of patriotic duty across all constituencies.
“I will mobilize the party from the grassroots to the national level to rejuvenate our members’ patriotic spirit so that we can defeat any opponent in the upcoming elections,” Mr. Agyarko explained.
With Mr. Agyarko’s formal declaration, the race for the NPP’s national chairmanship is shaping up to be highly competitive as the party strategizes for the crucial election ahead.
