President John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, paid a courtesy call on former President John Agyekum Kufuor in a gesture reflecting national unity and statesmanship.
The visit took place at President Kufuor’s residence at Peduase and was described as a private engagement aimed at extending Christmas and New Year goodwill to the former leader and his family.
The interaction between the two statesmen, who hail from Ghana’s two dominant political traditions, was characterised by warmth and mutual respect. President Mahama, who was accompanied by a small delegation of aides, praised President Kufuor for his lasting contribution to Ghana’s peace, stability and democratic development.
He noted that such engagements are important for strengthening national cohesion, particularly as the country prepares to enter the year 2026, and wished the former President good health and continued strength, describing him as a source of wisdom for the nation.

President Kufuor, in response, warmly welcomed President Mahama and expressed appreciation for the visit. He returned the goodwill, offering prayers for divine guidance for the Presidency as it steers the affairs of the nation in the year ahead.
Although the discussions were largely private, they reportedly underscored the importance of unity, hospitality and brotherly love—values that have featured prominently in festive messages across the country in recent weeks.
