Police seek Attorney-General’s advice in GH¢7.5m Adabraka gold shop robbery case

The police have forwarded the docket on a dramatic gold jewellery shop robbery at Adabraka to the Attorney-General’s Department for legal advice, as six accused persons appeared before an Accra Circuit Court.

The suspects—Salim Muhammed (also known as Fariwata), Alhassan Illiasu (Arab Man), Hamza Agerego (Lambert or Nene Bowku), Abdul Samed Bonsiabu Larry (Touch), Fatao Ibrahim (Motorway), and Abubarkar Sadique (Fifty Cents)—have all pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery.

A seventh suspect, Baba Chika, popularly known as “Oil Money,” remains at large and is being actively pursued by police.

The court has refused bail applications filed by lawyers representing the accused persons and adjourned the case to March 24, 2026.

According to prosecution, the suspects allegedly executed the audacious robbery in November 2024, targeting a large sum of money being transported from the jewellery shop to a bank. The gang reportedly used a Toyota Highlander vehicle with registration number GN 7357-19 and fired several gunshots into the air during the attack.

An occupant of the vehicle transporting the money sustained a gunshot wound to the left leg during the incident.

The accused are charged under sections 149 and 150 of the Criminal and Other Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29), which cover conspiracy to commit crime and robbery respectively.

Police investigations are continuing as authorities await legal direction from the Attorney-General’s Department on the next steps in prosecution.
