The Ghana Police Service has recovered a stolen Toyota Hilux pickup and other valuable exhibits following an intelligence-led operation into an armed robbery incident involving a complainant identified only as a Presidential staffer.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Crime Investigation Department (CID) Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, disclosed that the victim was attacked in her residence on December 4, 2025, by armed men who made off with her Toyota Hilux, an iPhone 16 Pro Max, and several personal effects.
According to police, the primary suspect—identified as Clement Kofi Aidoo, also known as Joseph Abequaye, Yaw, and Paddy—reportedly attempted to attack officers during the operation. He was shot and injured in the ensuing confrontation and subsequently transported to the Police Hospital for treatment, where he was pronounced dead.
The deceased is alleged to be the same individual linked to a similar robbery in November 2025, in which a Toyota Camry belonging to a police officer was stolen. The officer had engaged the suspect through a recruitment agency to care for his ailing father. That vehicle was later recovered in the Central Region after being abandoned by the suspect during a police chase.
Authorities confirmed that the complainant’s Toyota Hilux, mobile phone, and several documents have since been retrieved from the suspect.
In its statement, the Police Service reaffirmed its resolve to pursue criminal networks and ensure justice for victims of violent crime.
“The Ghana Police Service assures the public of its continued commitment to tracking criminal networks, recovering stolen property, and ensuring that persons involved in such violent offences are brought to justice,” the statement read.
Investigations are ongoing.
