Petra Basic School marked three decades of educational service on Tuesday with a vibrant anniversary celebration that brought together stakeholders from across the Amansie South District to champion academic excellence as a cornerstone of national development.
The 30th anniversary event, held on the school premises, drew a distinguished gathering including Amansie South District Chief Executive Hon. Benjamin Marfo, who served as Special Guest of Honour, and District Director of Education Mr. Simon Ampomah Antwi. School Proprietor Mr. Opoku Joseph (Wofa Joe), Headteacher Mr. Appiah Kubi Evans (Original Kipo), PTA Chairman Mr. Yeboah Stephen (Y.B), along with teachers, pupils, parents, and community members attended the celebration.
A significant highlight of the occasion was the return of past student batches who donated generously to support teaching and learning at their alma mater. School management warmly received the contributions, describing them as a testament to graduates’ gratitude and their commitment to investing in the institution that shaped their educational foundation.
The celebration also recognised the dedication of staff members through awards and certificates presented to hardworking teachers and non-teaching personnel for their outstanding contributions to academic excellence.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Benjamin Marfo commended the school’s management and staff for their efforts in nurturing pupils’ academic and moral development. He described education as “the most powerful tool for national transformation” and called on stakeholders to sustain initiatives that promote quality learning.
The DCE encouraged pupils to remain disciplined and focused on their studies, emphasising that hard work and determination pave the way for success. He reaffirmed the District Assembly’s commitment to supporting educational development throughout Amansie South.
District Director of Education Mr. Simon Ampomah Antwi praised the school’s contribution to local education and urged teachers to adopt innovative teaching methods to enhance learning outcomes. He stressed the importance of collaboration among teachers, parents, and education authorities in raising academic standards, while advising parents to support their children’s educational journey through regular attendance monitoring and home guidance.
Proprietor Mr. Opoku Joseph expressed appreciation to stakeholders for their support, describing alumni contributions as particularly inspiring. He noted that the school, guided by its motto “Jesus is Our Rock,” remains dedicated to combining academic excellence with strong moral and spiritual values, and reaffirmed management’s commitment to improving teaching and learning conditions.
PTA Chairman Mr. Yeboah Stephen assured management of the association’s continued support in enhancing academic performance and school infrastructure, emphasising that strong parent-teacher collaboration is essential for pupil success.
Headteacher Mr. Appiah Kubi Evans expressed gratitude to the school community and acknowledged past students’ contributions while highlighting the school’s achievements and reaffirming management’s dedication to maintaining high academic standards and discipline.
The celebration featured cultural performances and presentations by pupils showcasing their talents and confidence, while strengthening bonds between the school and the wider community.
