The Adenta Circuit Court has remanded Pastor William Gyimah into police custody over alleged threats made against the Vice-President, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.
Presiding over the case, Her Honour Angela Attachie ordered the remand after the accused was brought before the court on charges linked to a viral social media video.
Charges
The accused person was charged with False Communication Contrary to Section 76 of the Electronic Communications Act, 2008 (Act 775), and Publication of False News with Intent to Cause Fear and Alarm Contrary to Section 209 of the Criminal and Other Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
Viral Video Evidence
According to the prosecution, the accused was captured in a viral video on social media platforms, including TikTok, making false and threatening statements directed at the Vice-President. The prosecution prayed the court to remand the accused into custody to facilitate police investigation.
Court Orders Remand
The court, after hearing the case of the prosecution on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, remanded the accused person into police custody. He is to reappear on April 13, 2026.
The case is expected to continue as investigations proceed.
