Parliament to begin second session on February 3 with key bills and debates lined up

Parliament is expected to begin the Second Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, following the Christmas recess that brought the First Session to a close in December 2025.

In preparation for the resumption, the Majority Leader and Leader of Government Business has engaged Ministers of State to review and harmonise legislative priorities for the new session.

A number of bills, statements on pressing national issues, and questions directed at Ministers are expected to be presented to the House during the sitting.

Key issues slated for consideration include matters related to illegal mining, as well as the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, widely known as the Anti-LGBT Bill, which is anticipated to spark intense debate in Parliament.
