The Oti Regional Minister, John Kwadwo Gyapong, has announced a new directive mandating that all government projects in the region undergo full physical inspection before any payment certificates are signed.
The Minister stated that the measure is aimed at ensuring value for money and preventing financial losses resulting from inflated contracts or uncompleted work. According to Mr. Gyapong, the era of signing off on payments based solely on paperwork is over, and his administration will personally verify that work has been completed to the required standard.
โI will inspect all projects myself before signing any payment certificates,โ the Minister said. โWe cannot continue to pay for work that has not been done or is substandard. This is to ensure that the state receives what it has paid for and that the people of the Oti Region benefit from every cedi allocated for development.โ
The directive is expected to affect ongoing infrastructure projects, including roads, schools, and healthcare facilities, within the region.
