OSP seizes high-value assets worth over GH50million in anti-corruption drive

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has announced a major asset recovery operation, securing over GH₵50 million in cash and properties as part of its investigations for the second half of 2025.

According to its Half Yearly Report covering July to December 2025, the OSP recovered US$2 million for the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF) and an additional GH₵8.5 million related to an investigation into the alleged diversion of petroleum products.

The most significant asset seizures are linked to the ongoing criminal case, The Republic v. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid & Nine Others. The seized portfolio includes:

· GH₵951,995.56 in cash.
· Four fuel stations located in Opeikuma, Dansoman, Abeka Lapaz, and Millennium City near Kasoa.
· Prime real estate across Accra, including a GH₵12.7 million two-storey residence in East Legon and a GH₵10 million two-storey building in Adjiringanor.
· Multiple luxury apartments in upscale developments such as The Bantree, The Signature, and The Address, with values ranging up to GH₵3.5 million.
· Six-unit block of buildings at Agbogba valued at GH₵10 million.
· Twenty-three fuel tanker trucks.

In a separate investigation involving MIIF, the OSP seized a fleet of luxury vehicles valued at GH₵18.6 million. The seized automobiles include a Rolls Royce Mansory Phantom, a Mercedes Benz Maybach S680, and several Toyota Land Cruisers and Lexus models.

The report underscores the scale of the OSP’s asset recovery mandate. All seized properties are now under the management of the OSP, pending the outcome of court trials and potential forfeiture to the state.
