The Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Mr. Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, paid a courtesy visit to the Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, at the Minister’s residence on Thursday, combining official deliberations with personal goodwill.
The visit saw Mr. Ampofo Ankrah extend warm wishes to the Minister on the occasion of Eid-Ul-Fitr, celebrating with him the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan. He also used the opportunity to wish the Minister a speedy recovery following a recent accident he was involved in a few weeks ago.
During the meeting, the two leaders deliberated on the intersection of sports and education, focusing on the role sports plays in educational development and how the two sectors can overlap to create synergies. Their discussions aligned with the government’s broader RESET agenda of embedding sports within the educational framework. Mr. Ampofo Ankrah also expressed his admiration for Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, acknowledging him as a mentor and a role model in politics, someone he has long looked up to.
The two leaders further took the opportunity to deliberate on the way forward for national development and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party, reinforcing their shared commitment to the government’s broader vision of strengthening youth and university sports systems.
The courtesy visit to the Education Minister’s residence underscores the growing synergy between the sports and education sectors as the government pursues its vision of creating a new ecosystem where sports contributes not only to recreation but also to youth development and national growth.
