NPP Communicator calls for dissolution of GFA, boycott of Black Stars

A New Patriotic Party (NPP) communications team member, Yaw Opoku Mensah, has called for the immediate dissolution of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) management following the Black Stars’ defeat to Germany and the subsequent dismissal of head coach Otto Addo.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Mensah argued that if the coach can be removed for poor performance, the administrators who appointed him must also face accountability.

“Let’s boycott support for the Black Stars until the management of the GFA is dissolved,” Mensah said. He insisted that a careful review of the team’s performance and leadership actions reveals wasted public funds and leaders who prioritise personal gain over Ghanaian football’s success.

Mensah singled out a serving member of the GFA management who also serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Cocoa Board. He alleged that the official’s preference for football activities over key national development priorities reflects misplaced focus and irresponsibility at the top of the football association.

He warned that Ghanaians cannot leave the future of football in such hands and urged citizens across all political affiliations to demand the immediate removal of the current management team or withhold support for the national team until accountability and competence are restored.

The Black Stars recently suffered a defeat to Germany, a result that led to the sacking of head coach Otto Addo. Mensah’s comments add to growing public frustration over the national team’s performance and the administration of Ghana football.
