NDC Oforikrom executives raise GHC17000 for infant’s critical surgery

Executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Oforikrom Constituency have contributed GH¢17,000 to fund an urgent throat surgery for one-year-old Manasseh Adusei.

The infant was diagnosed with a severe throat blockage at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Hospital, a condition that prevents him from swallowing solid food. Doctors say he can only consume water and light porridge, threatening his nutrition and survival.

An urgent surgical procedure estimated at GH¢20,000 was recommended, a sum beyond the means of the child’s family.

In response, the constituency executives mobilized the donation, leaving a balance of GH¢3,000 to be raised.

The contribution was announced by Jerry James Sukah, Oforikrom Constituency Communications Officer, who stated the act reflects the party’s commitment to community support beyond politics.

“This is not about politics; it is about saving a life,” Sukah said. “As community leaders, we believe it is our duty to act when a child’s future depends on timely intervention.”

The family has expressed deep gratitude for the support, which they described as a major relief during a period of distress.

The constituency executives are now appealing to the public, organisations, and corporate bodies to help raise the outstanding GH¢3,000 so the surgery can proceed without delay.

The gesture has been praised locally as an example of compassionate leadership and collective social responsibility.
