Former Member of Parliament for Tema West and former Administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), Irene Naa Torshie Addo, has expressed her willingness to serve as a running mate to Kennedy Ohene Agyapong if the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its stakeholders deem her capable and suitable for the role.
Her comments come amid speculation that she is being considered for the vice-presidential slot following her decision to back Mr Agyapong in the party’s 2026 presidential primary.
Naa Torshie Addo, who previously supported former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the NPP’s last flagbearership contest, addressed the issue in an interview with Citi News after casting her ballot.
She dismissed claims that she had held discussions with Kennedy Agyapong regarding a possible running mate arrangement, but made it clear that she would be ready to serve if called upon.
“Possible? I don’t know. We haven’t discussed that. But if I am considered, what do you think? It is also good to have women included,” she said.
She added that any such decision would go beyond personal ambition and reflect the collective judgment of the party and its stakeholders.
“If my people think I am capable, it will not just be about me, but my constituency, the NPP and other influential people. If they believe I am capable, then I am ready to serve the country, and I will give my life to serve this nation,” she stated.
