Ministry of Health suspends nursing college principal over admission

The Ministry of Health has suspended the Principal of the College of Nursing, Nkanchina, Mr. Fredrick Anaba, with immediate effect to pave the way for a full investigation into allegations of administrative misconduct.

The suspension, announced in a press release on Thursday, March 12, follows accusations that Mr. Anaba engaged in over-admission of students and introduced new academic programmes without the requisite approval from the Ministry.

According to the statement, the Ministry initially issued a query to Mr. Anaba on February 19, 2026, seeking explanations regarding the conduct of the 2025/2026 admissions process. Upon a review of his response, authorities determined that the explanations were insufficient, necessitating a deeper probe to establish the full facts of the matter.

In the interim, Mr. Anaba has been directed to hand over the administration of the college to the Acting Vice Principal. This measure, the Ministry stated, is to ensure the smooth and uninterrupted running of academic activities at the institution.

The Ministry of Health reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing strict compliance with approved admission quotas and academic programmes across all health training institutions in the country. It assured the public that further updates would be provided upon the conclusion of the investigation.
