Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, has pledged his Ministry’s full commitment to collaborating with the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) to drive the development and promotion of sports in the country.
The Minister made this known today during a working visit to the Olympic House in Accra, where he was officially received by the board of the GOC. The visit marked one of the Minister’s first direct engagements with the leadership of the Olympic movement since his appointment.
During the meeting, Hon. Adams reaffirmed the government’s dedication to fostering a strong working relationship with the GOC. He emphasized that a unified approach between the state and the Olympic family is crucial to elevating Ghana’s sporting standards.
A key outcome of the discussions was the Minister’s commitment to collaborate with the GOC to ensure the completion of the OlympAfrica project at Amasaman. The project, an Olympic Solidarity initiative aimed at developing youth sports, has faced delays, and its completion is now expected to provide a major boost to grassroots sports development in the region.
In a show of solidarity with the broader sporting community, the GOC board used the occasion of the visit to make a donation to the Ghana Sports Fund. The gesture underscores the Committee’s commitment to supporting initiatives that benefit athletes and sports administration across the country.
The meeting signals a new chapter of cooperation between the Ministry and the GOC, with both parties expressing optimism about the future of sports development in Ghana.
