Popular Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson has secured the release of TikToker Eedie Bliss after withdrawing all charges against her.
Eedie Bliss was freed on Saturday, January 17, 2026, following intense public backlash on social media over her detention.
The decision came hours after social media critic VeryDarkMan accused the actress of oppression, stressing that defamation is a civil matter and should not result in criminal detention. He joined several Nigerians in calling for Bliss’s immediate release and issued an ultimatum to Mercy Johnson.
Shortly after, VeryDarkMan announced that the TikTok creator had been released. In a post on Instagram, he thanked the actress for dropping the case and urged the public to stop what he described as persistent bullying of her and her family.
According to Daily Post, Eedie Bliss was arrested over a TikTok video she posted in December 2025, in which she made allegations involving Mercy Johnson and her husband, Prince Henry Okojie.
In the video, the TikToker claimed that Prince Okojie had purchased a house for an alleged pregnant mistress. Citing gossip blogger Cutie Juls as her source, she further alleged that Mercy Johnson was involved in actions that led to the mistress’s miscarriage.
