Mahama to host Zimbabwean President Mnangagwa for three-day state visit

President John Dramani Mahama will welcome Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa to Accra this week for a three-day state visit aimed at bolstering bilateral relations between the two nations.

According to a statement from the Minister for Government Communications and Presidential Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, President Mnangagwa is scheduled to arrive at the Kotoka International Airport at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. He will be received with full military honours, including a guard of honour and a 21-gun salute.

The visit will feature bilateral talks at the Peduase Lodge, where the two leaders will hold a private meeting before engaging in broader discussions. Key topics on the agenda include trade, tourism, agriculture, health, sanitation, anti-corruption efforts, and strategies to combat unemployment. The talks are expected to culminate in the signing and exchange of Memoranda of Understanding in areas of mutual interest.

President Mnangagwa’s itinerary also includes tours of the Sweden Ghana Medical Centre and the Accra Compost and Recycling Plant, where he will receive briefings on Ghana’s healthcare delivery and waste management systems. He will also visit the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park to lay a wreath at the tomb of Ghana’s first President.

To underscore the longstanding ties between Ghana and Zimbabwe, President Mahama will host a state banquet in honour of his guest on the evening of his arrival.

President Mnangagwa is scheduled to depart on Friday, April 3, 2026, concluding his official visit.
