President John Dramani Mahama has arrived back in Ghana following a two-day official working visit to France, where he held high-level talks with President Emmanuel Macron.
The President touched down in Accra on Wednesday evening, April 8, after a trip that focused on deepening bilateral cooperation between Ghana and France.
During their meeting, the two leaders discussed a range of strategic issues, including trade and investment, regional and global security, and the wider implications of ongoing international conflicts. They also explored concrete areas for collaboration aimed at bolstering Ghana’s development agenda.
Key projects and sectors discussed included the use of artificial intelligence (AI) for development, new maternal health initiatives, and the long-delayed Accra–Kumasi Expressway project. On agriculture, talks centred on enhancing food security and promoting year-round farming through French technical and financial support.
President Macron also reaffirmed France’s long-standing commitment to Ghana through the Agence Française de Développement (AFD). The two presidents jointly co-chaired the 2026 One Health Summit in Lyon, underscoring a shared commitment to preventing future pandemics and advancing global health security.
