Initiative Utilizes DACF Allocation to Provide Tailored Aid for Livelihoods and Social Inclusion
KWADASO – The Kwadaso Municipal Assembly has reaffirmed its commitment to social inclusion by distributing equipment and cash donations to approximately 50 Persons Living with Disabilities (PWDs) in a ceremony held on Tuesday, March 31, 2026.
The event, organized by the Social Welfare and Community Development Department at the Assembly’s forecourt, is part of a broader strategy to provide economic empowerment and improve the livelihoods of vulnerable groups within the municipality.
Eric Asibey, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), presided over the presentation and urged beneficiaries to use the items for their intended purposes. He issued a strong caution against selling or misusing the support, emphasizing that the intervention is designed to foster economic independence and overall well-being.
Mr. Asibey explained that the resources were procured from the Assembly’s allocation of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF). He noted that by law, PWDs are entitled to five percent of all quarterly releases, and the items were specifically chosen based on individual requests from the beneficiaries to suit their unique needs.
The items distributed included deep freezers, industrial sewing machines, second-hand clothing, and a laptop. In addition to the equipment, several beneficiaries received direct cash support aimed at covering educational expenses and medical costs.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, John Nicholas Mensah, Chairman of the PWDs in the municipality, expressed profound gratitude to the government and the Assembly. He described the gesture as both timely and impactful, stating that it would significantly alleviate the economic hardships faced by many in the community.
The ceremony was attended by key officials of the Assembly, including the Municipal Coordinating Director, Francis Adu-Boateng; the Presiding Member, Ernest Frimpong; and the Director of Social Welfare and Community Development, Joyce Owusu. Assembly members, departmental heads, and staff were also present to support the initiative.
