The Kwadaso Municipal Assembly has launched a new initiative to tackle persistent sanitation challenges, announcing the deployment of skip containers across the municipality to curb indiscriminate waste disposal.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Eric Asibey, officially handed over four skip containers to the Environmental Health and Sanitation Department on March 31, 2026. The brief ceremony took place at the assembly’s forecourt, signaling the start of a broader strategy to improve waste collection efficiency.
Hon. Asibey noted that the provision of the containers is a direct response to the growing problem of illegal dumping sites within the community. He stated that the intervention aims to provide residents with designated, accessible points for refuse disposal, moving away from the current culture of indiscriminate dumping.
“This is a practical step toward creating a cleaner and healthier environment,” Hon. Asibey said. He urged residents to utilize the containers responsibly and support the assembly’s efforts by adopting good sanitation practices.
The MCE also tasked the Environmental Health and Sanitation Department with ensuring the strategic placement of the containers and coordinating their regular evacuation to prevent overflow.
Municipal Coordinating Director Francis Adu-Boateng, Presiding Member Ernest Frimpong, and various assembly members attended the handover, pledging their support for the project’s success.
The assembly expects the distribution of the skip containers to significantly enhance waste management operations and contribute to a sustainable environment across the Kwadaso Municipality.
