Kelvynboy calls on Ghanaian music stars to support upcoming artistes

Ghanaian Afrobeats singer Kelvynboy has issued a passionate appeal to established musicians in the country, urging them to extend greater support to emerging talents who are struggling to find their footing in the competitive music industry.

In a recent interview, the “Down Flat” hitmaker emphasized that many upcoming artistes face significant challenges breaking through due to limited opportunities and exposure. He called on successful stars to help nurture new talents through collaborations, mentorship programmes, and by offering platforms for them to showcase their abilities.

Drawing from his personal experience, Kelvynboy revealed that he owes much of his early career breakthrough to the support he received from Ghanaian dancehall icon Stonebwoy. He explained that being associated with Stonebwoy’s brand through his record label played a crucial role in helping him gain recognition and build his name in the Ghanaian music scene.

“The biggest thing Stonebwoy did for me was allowing me to be associated with his brand,” Kelvynboy stated, noting that the connection introduced him to a wider audience, as many of Stonebwoy’s fans naturally extended their support to him as well.

Kelvynboy was signed to Stonebwoy’s Burniton Music Group between 2017 and 2019, a period that saw him rise to prominence through several collaborations with the dancehall star. Though the two have since parted ways professionally, Kelvynboy has consistently acknowledged the foundational role Stonebwoy played in shaping his career.

The singer stressed that mentorship and collaboration are essential ingredients for strengthening Ghana’s music industry and enabling it to compete more effectively on the international stage.

“When successful musicians help nurture younger talents, it contributes to the overall growth of the entertainment sector,” he said.

Kelvynboy also encouraged fans and industry stakeholders to shift some attention toward new voices rather than focusing exclusively on already established names. He believes creating space for emerging artistes will diversify the industry and allow more talented musicians to succeed.

His comments come amid growing discussions within Ghana’s entertainment circles about the need for stronger support systems for young artistes. Industry observers have increasingly pointed to mentorship and collaboration as key factors that could help Ghanaian music gain greater global recognition.

Kelvynboy concluded his appeal by urging established musicians to remember their own beginnings and extend a helping hand to the next generation of artistes striving to make their mark.
