Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has issued an ultimatum to the United States, warning that it will target American and Israeli universities across the Middle East unless Washington condemns an alleged bombing of an Iranian higher education institution.
According to a military statement published by Iran’s state-affiliated Tasnim News Agency, the U.S. and Israel carried out an attack on the Science and Technology University in Tehran. The statement did not provide independent evidence of the strike.
The IRGC has given U.S. authorities until March 30 at 12:00 p.m. Tehran time to condemn the alleged bombing. Failure to do so, the statement said, will trigger retaliatory strikes against U.S. and Israeli universities in the region.
“If the U.S. administration does not want its universities in the region — except for two — to be attacked, its representatives should condemn the bombings of the Iranian universities before the deadline,” the military statement read.
The IRGC added that regardless of Washington’s actions, it plans to strike two U.S. universities in the Middle East in retaliation. The Corps called on staff, students, and civilians near the targeted institutions to stay away.
The threat comes amid heightened tensions between Iran, Israel, and the United States. No independent confirmation has emerged of the alleged attack on the Tehran university.
In a related development, the Iranian national football team paid tribute to victims of a separate reported incident. During a friendly match against Nigeria’s Super Eagles on March 27, Iranian players carried backpacks onto the field in honor of more than 170 female students who, according to Iranian sources, died in U.S.-Israeli airstrikes on the Shajareh Tayyebeh Elementary School.
The reported school attack has not been independently verified.
