Iran rejects Trump’s diplomatic overture, mocking US strategic failure

Iran’s military has sharply dismissed President Donald Trump’s claim that diplomatic efforts are back on track, declaring it will “never come to terms” with the U.S. leader.

The rebuke follows reports that Mr. Trump had proposed a 15-point plan to Tehran through intermediaries, asserting that Iran was eager to strike a deal and had agreed to forswear nuclear weapons.

In response, Iranian military spokesman Ebrahim Zolfaghari rejected the notion of negotiations, questioning whether the U.S. was “negotiating with yourselves” and describing the American position as a strategic failure.

Amid the escalating rhetoric, the Pentagon has ordered approximately 2,000 soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division to deploy to the Middle East.

In a separate move aimed at easing regional tensions, Iran announced it would open the Strait of Hormuz to “non-hostile vessels” that coordinate with Iranian authorities, a step intended to mitigate disruptions to global shipping lanes.
