RuffTown Records CEO Ricky Nana Agyemang, widely known as Bullet, has made a startling revelation about the financial strain he endured while managing the career of the late dancehall sensation Ebony Reigns, disclosing that he is still paying off loans incurred during that period.
In a candid interview on UTV’s Atuu with Nana Romeo on March 7, 2026, Bullet pushed back against the long-standing public perception that he profited immensely from the singer’s early success. He described the narrative as misleading and insisted that the financial reality was far from lucrative.
“When she was alive, we didn’t make streams. We were not even earning much from the shows we played,” Bullet stated. He addressed the accusations that surfaced following Ebony’s untimely death in 2018, particularly claims that he had misappropriated her funds. “When she died, a lot of things were said. They wanted to paint a picture that I was misusing her funds. Which money exactly are they talking about?” he questioned.
The music executive also dismissed rumors of a dispute with Ebony’s father over properties allegedly owned by the late star. He challenged critics to point to any Ghanaian artist who had amassed significant property wealth within such a short period. “They were even saying I was fighting with Ebony’s dad over her properties. Which artist in Ghana here has acquired properties in two years?” he asked.
Bullet revealed that the public face of Ebony’s meteoric rise masked a behind-the-scenes struggle to fund her career. He disclosed that he took out substantial loans to finance her promotion before she became a household name, investments he says he is still repaying to this day.
“They have no idea what I went through, but because she was everywhere, people thought things were smooth. I’m still paying debts till now,” he confessed. “I invested a lot of money in her before she became famous. I took loans from people just to promote her, but I doubt if people know this.”
Ebony Reigns, born Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng, was a dominant force in the Ghanaian music industry with hits like ‘Poison’ and ‘Kupe’ before her career was tragically cut short by a fatal car accident at the age of 20.
