Help Start Foundation commissions $35,000 ICT Centre for Kwaso Presby JHS

Educational infrastructure in the Ejisu Municipality received a major boost on Wednesday as the Help Start Education Foundation commissioned a fully renovated and equipped Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centre at the Kwaso Presbyterian Junior High School.

The project, valued at approximately $35,000, includes the construction and furnishing of the facility, as well as the donation of computers and exercise books. The new ICT centre is fitted with modern amenities, including ceiling fans and air conditioning, to create a conducive learning environment.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, the Vice President for International Operations of the foundation, Mr. Stephen Appiani Junior, reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to bridging the digital divide in underserved communities. He noted the initiative aims to empower students with practical digital skills essential for the 21st century.

“We are driven by the need to improve ICT education,” Mr. Appiani Junior said. He also appealed to residents and stakeholders to support efforts aimed at improving education in the community, stressing that collective responsibility is key to sustaining such interventions.

The Headmaster of the school, Rev. Yaw Owusu, expressed profound gratitude to the foundation, describing the project as timely and transformative. He revealed that the school previously lacked the necessary infrastructure for practical ICT lessons, forcing teachers to rely solely on theoretical instruction.

“The introduction of the ICT centre will greatly enhance teaching and learning outcomes,” Rev. Owusu said, adding that it will equip students with skills needed for higher education and future technology-related careers.

The Chief of Kwaso, Nana Osei Fosu Adutwum, commended the foundation for its generosity and described the initiative as a worthwhile investment in the future of the youth. He urged school authorities, students, and the wider community to ensure proper maintenance and effective utilisation of the facility.

The commissioning marks a significant milestone in advancing digital literacy in Kwaso and highlights the role of partnerships between non-governmental organisations and local communities in driving sustainable development.
