GOC unveils four-year strategic plan to Minister, pledges transparency in quest for gold

The leadership of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) has officially presented its roadmap for the future to the sector minister, outlining an ambitious four-year strategic plan aimed at transforming the nation’s fortunes on the international stage.

In a high-level meeting held in Accra, the GOC executives briefed the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, on their “2025–2029 Strategic Plan,” a comprehensive blueprint designed to drive sustainable excellence in sports development and competition.

The discussions served a dual purpose: a formal policy briefing on the long-term vision, and a critical status update on Ghana’s preparations for a packed calendar of imminent international assignments. Key among these are the upcoming Youth Olympics, the 2026 Commonwealth Games, and the 2027 All African Games, which Ghana will be looking to approach with renewed vigor.

Following the presentation, the sector minister challenged the GOC to ensure that the nation’s resources translate directly into podium finishes. Hon. Adams emphasized the need for integrity in the use of funds and preparations, charging the committee to guarantee transparency in all arrangements concerning Team Ghana.

The minister reiterated the government’s commitment to leveraging sports beyond recreation, hinting at a broader strategy to position the sector as a viable economic driver for the country. He called for a unified approach between the ministry and the GOC to ensure that Ghana not only participates but competes fiercely for gold in all upcoming events.
