The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has held a highly productive meeting with His Excellency Rune Skinnebach, Ambassador of the European Union to Ghana, during which both parties reaffirmed their commitment to elevating the longstanding partnership between Ghana and the European bloc.
The discussions, described by the Minister as “mutually beneficial,” focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and mapping out shared priority initiatives for the year 2026.
Hon. Ablakwa used the opportunity to underscore Ghana’s deep appreciation for its strategic partnership with the EU, acknowledging the bloc’s role as the nation’s largest trading partner. He expressed strong optimism regarding the implementation of joint programs in the coming years.
The Minister noted that Ghana remains steadfast in its commitment to working closely with the European Union, with enhanced collaboration expected across a diverse range of critical sectors. Key areas of focus identified during the meeting include security sector reform, agricultural development, public health, education, artificial intelligence, and counterterrorism efforts.
The engagement forms part of ongoing diplomatic efforts to align Ghana’s development agenda with the EU’s broader strategic interests in the West African sub-region.
