Gbande intervenes in GoldBod-Nana Aba controversy, appeals for calm among NDC grassroots

The Director of Operations at the Presidency, Mustapha Gbande, has issued a statement aimed at de-escalating tensions within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) following the public uproar surrounding the Goldbod initiative and its associated commentary by broadcast journalist Nana Aba Anamoah.

In a move to soothe the nerves of agitated party grassroots members who have reportedly sworn dire consequences, Gbande took to social media on [Insert Day] to address the growing discontent and reaffirm the party leadership’s commitment to its foundational members.

Gbande, who also serves as a Deputy General Secretary of the party, acknowledged the widespread frustration permeating the rank and file. He noted that the leadership has been closely monitoring the situation and is not taking the grievances lightly.

“Good evening colleagues and comrades, I have reviewed numerous commentaries and concerns that have been widely expressed, reflecting the sentiments of some members,” the statement read. He emphasized that the party’s leadership feels a profound sense of accountability, stating that it is essential to address the grievances of “even a single member, let alone a group of dedicated brothers and sisters who have worked together to get us this far.”

Seeking to reassure the party base, Gbande highlighted that the concerns being raised are being taken seriously at the highest levels. “As members of the NDC, our concerns are continually taken into consideration for adjustments, corrections, and strategic realignments. The pain and struggles shared by many keep us up at night, prompting deep reflections on how to improve,” he wrote.

Acknowledging the feeling of betrayal among some supporters, Gbande appealed for patience and trust in the process. He urged members to resist the urge to abandon the party’s principles, even when the actions of some appointees seem to deviate from the collective resolve.

“When it seems like our hopes have been dashed due to perceived betrayals, it’s natural to feel aggrieved, especially when those who were previously indifferent are now trying to capitalize on our struggles. However, it’s crucial to give everyone the benefit of the doubt and allow time to unfold. Your patience will be vindicated soon,” Gbande assured.

Concluding his appeal, the Director of Operations expressed confidence that the current challenges facing the party are temporary, urging members to hold the line and maintain their faith in the party’s leadership.
