Ga Mantse discharged from hospital, recovering well after Oti accident

The Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, has been discharged from the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) after a successful recovery from injuries sustained in a road accident earlier this week.

The revered monarch left the medical facility shortly after receiving a get-well visit from President John Dramani Mahama. According to a statement from the Office of the Ga Mantse, physicians have given His Royal Majesty a clean bill of health following a series of intensive clinical assessments conducted after his emergency evacuation to Accra.

The King was involved in a serious motor accident on the evening of Tuesday, February 17, while returning to Accra from the Northern Region. Palace officials confirmed the incident occurred on the Pai-Katanga stretch of the highway in the Oti Region.

King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II was returning from a private visit to the Northern Region at the invitation of the Ya Naa, the King of the Dagbon Kingdom. The trip was part of ongoing efforts to foster unity and strengthen the historic ties between the Ga and Dagbon traditional states.

In the aftermath of the crash, the King and his aides were promptly assisted by the Ghana Police Service and royal staff present at the scene before being transported to Accra for specialized medical care. The Office of the Ga Mantse has confirmed that there were no fatalities.

In a statement signed by the Chief of Protocol and Communications, Amb. (Sir) S.J.K. Parker-Allotey, the King expressed his profound gratitude to the emergency responders and the medical team at UGMC for their swift and professional care. He also extended deep appreciation to the public for the overwhelming outpouring of prayers and well-wishes during his convalescence.

The King’s discharge marks the end of a tense period for the Ga Traditional Council and the wider Ga State. Attention now turns to his recovery at his residence, with the public eagerly awaiting his first official appearance following the incident.
