Former NPP financier George Otis Bonsu quits party, citing loss of appeal

A prominent financier of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), George Oti Bonsu, has officially announced his departure from the party, declaring that it no longer holds any attraction for him.

Mr. Oti Bonsu, who played a significant financial role in supporting the NPP during critical political periods, cited a fundamental disconnect between his personal convictions and the current direction of the party.

“I am no longer a member of the NPP; the party is no more attractive to me,” he stated, explaining that the party no longer reflects the values that originally motivated his commitment and support.

While he did not indicate any immediate plans to align with another political organization, his resignation has triggered considerable discussion within political circles regarding growing internal discontent and shifting dynamics within the party.

Observers suggest that Mr. Oti Bonsu’s exit as a known financial backer could intensify conversations about party structure, internal cohesion, and the necessity for reforms ahead of future elections.

As of the time of publication, the NPP leadership had not issued an official response to his remarks. However, political analysts note that high-profile departures often signal deeper concerns among segments of the party’s stakeholder base and may influence ongoing internal debates.
