In a Facebook post on Monday, March 2, 2026, Mr Ablakwa congratulated the appointees, describing them as “worthy additions” to his team.

“Congratulations, Valentina and Fred. Worthy additions to our team. We value the professionalism and dynamism you are both noted for,” the minister wrote.

New Head of Communication for Passport Administration

Valentina Ofori-Afriyie, a broadcast journalist with Accra FM, has been appointed Head of Communication for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Passport Administration. In this capacity, she will oversee the public image and communications strategy of the Passport Division, which manages passport processing and related services across the country.

Ms Ofori-Afriyie brings extensive media experience to her new role, having previously served as Deputy Head of Current Affairs at Class Media Group, operators of Class FM, Accra FM and Class TV. She also worked with Radio Gold earlier in her career.

A award-winning broadcaster, she won the Female Best Newscaster of the Year at the RTP Awards in 2020. Her academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies, a Diploma in Public Relations and a DW Training Certificate in Radio Reporting.

Ms Ofori-Afriyie was married to the late Kwadwo Asare Baffour Acheampong, popularly known as KABA, a respected broadcaster with Asempa FM.
