Thomas Partey, the former Arsenal midfielder, has been charged with two additional counts of rape following a fresh police investigation.
The new charges relate to a separate report of alleged non-recent offences dating back to 2020, the Crown Prosecution Service confirmed on Wednesday. They said the allegations were first reported to authorities last August, prompting a further inquiry by the Metropolitan Police.
Partey, 30, already faces trial in November after previously denying charges of raping two women and sexually assaulting a third. He appeared in court earlier this year to enter those pleas.
The CPS said the latest charges are not connected to the earlier allegations. No further details of the new investigation have been released at this stage.
The Ghana international is due to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court at a later date to answer the additional counts. His legal team has not yet commented on the new charges.
Partey joined Arsenal in 2020 and left the club at the end of last season.
