ECG to undertake maintenance work in Tema communities on Sunday

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a planned power interruption in parts of the Tema Metropolis this Sunday, March 8, 2026, as part of essential infrastructure upgrade works.

In a statement issued on Saturday, ECG indicated that the exercise forms part of broader efforts to enhance the reliability and quality of electricity supply across the Tema Region. The maintenance works will enable engineers to carry out critical upgrades on the network.

The power outage is scheduled to last for four hours, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Sunday.

Communities that will be affected include McKeon, Sky Quarries, and Westrafo, as well as all localities within the immediate vicinity of these areas.

ECG apologised to customers who will be affected by the temporary interruption, acknowledging the inconvenience the exercise will cause to both domestic and commercial activities.

The company, however, assured the public that the maintenance works are necessary to prevent more significant system failures in the future and to ensure the long-term stability of the power network in the region.

Residents and businesses in the affected areas are advised to plan accordingly and cooperate with ECG officials as they carry out the scheduled upgrades.
