ECG to cut power to Konongo, Agogo, Juaso in Friday maintenance

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a planned power outage for several communities in the Ashanti Region on Friday, April 10, 2026, to carry out critical infrastructure upgrades.

In a public advisory issued on Wednesday, the power distributor stated that the exercise will last four hours, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. The affected areas include Konongo, Juaso, Obogu, Asankare, Banso, Nyaboo, Patrensa, Juansa, Agogo, and their surrounding environs.

According to ECG, the maintenance is essential for enhancing service reliability and strengthening the stability of the power network along the region’s eastern corridor.

The company apologised to all affected customers for the inconvenience, noting that while the interruption will disrupt domestic and commercial activities, it is necessary for long-term improvements to the power network. Engineers have been tasked to complete the upgrades within the scheduled timeframe and restore power promptly.

The upcoming exercise follows an emergency maintenance operation carried out by ECG in the same region on Friday, April 3, 2026. That nine-hour outage, which ran from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, affected mining communities including Chirano, Bibiani, Nyinahin, and several others.

Customers in the affected areas have been advised to plan their activities accordingly for the four-hour interruption.
