The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced emergency maintenance works in the Central Region for Friday, March 20, 2026, while engineers continue to address a transformer fault that caused outages in parts of the Accra West Region.
In a statement, the power distributor said the emergency operations in the Central Region are necessary to address urgent network issues and are scheduled to run from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Affected areas include Apra township, parts of Opeikuma, Opeikuma Roman, and surrounding communities. ECG assured customers that the five-hour interruption is critical for repairs and upgrades aimed at enhancing long-term network reliability.
Meanwhile, residents in parts of the Accra West Region experienced an unplanned power outage on Thursday, March 19, 2026, following a fault on a transformer. According to a notification issued by ECG, the interruption affected Nii Boye town, the Mama Zimbi area, Sarpeiman Faase, Sarpeiman, Dunyo, and adjoining localities.
The company stated that engineers were immediately deployed to the site to rectify the fault and restore power as swiftly as possible. ECG extended an apology to customers enduring the disruption and reiterated its commitment to minimising inconvenience while repairs are carried out.
In its public notices, ECG expressed regret for any inconvenience caused to affected customers and emphasised that both planned emergency interventions and unplanned fault repairs are essential for ensuring the long-term stability of the power network across the regions. The company urged customers experiencing outages to report to the nearest ECG office or contact the company through its official communication channels.
