ECG announces power outages for maintenance in Greater Accra and Central Regions

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a series of scheduled maintenance works across four of its operational regions for tomorrow, Thursday, March 12, 2026. The exercise, which will involve essential infrastructure upgrades, will lead to a temporary disruption of power supply to several communities in the Greater Accra and Central regions.

According to advisories issued by the power distributor, the maintenance forms part of ECG’s ongoing efforts to enhance service reliability and strengthen the stability of the national grid.

The power outages are scheduled to begin at 9:00 am across all affected areas. However, the duration of the interruptions will vary by region depending on the specific scope of work to be undertaken.

Accra East Region
Technicians in the Accra East Region will carry out maintenance between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. The eight-hour outage will affect several key localities, including parts of:

· Ashongman Estate
· Pure Water
· East Legon
· The French School
· MJ Grand Hotel
· Chez Afrique
· East Legon Police Station
Residents and businesses in these areas and their surrounding environs are advised to plan accordingly.

Accra West Region
The Accra West Region will also experience a full-day exercise, running from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The maintenance will impact:

· Oshiyie
· Alogboshie
· Achimota Neoplan
· Benjilo
· The Mateheko Roman Church
The company indicated that the works in this area are critical to improving the quality of power supply for residents along that corridor.

Central Region
The Central Region will see two separate maintenance exercises on Thursday.

· The first operation, scheduled from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, will affect the Brimso water works and the Bronyibima Estate, along with their surrounding areas.
· A second, longer exercise will run from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, impacting the Senya and Fetteh townships, as well as Ojobi and Bonsuoku, together with their adjoining communities.

In its public notices, ECG extended its apologies to all affected customers, acknowledging the inconvenience that such technical interventions inevitably cause to both domestic and commercial activities.

The company reassured the public that these exercises are necessary to ensure the long-term robustness of the power network and to ultimately deliver improved service to consumers across the regions.
