The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has notified residents and businesses in parts of the Central Region of a planned power interruption scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, March 13, 2026.
In an advisory issued earlier this week, the power distributor stated that engineers will be conducting essential infrastructure upgrades as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance service reliability and strengthen the stability of the national grid. The exercise will result in a temporary disruption of power supply to several communities.
The outage is scheduled to begin at 9:00 am and is expected to last until 3:00 pm. Communities that will be affected include Koful, Kwaprow, Nkanfua, Edukrom, and Ataabadzi Junction, as well as adjoining areas.
The ECG has advised all customers in these localities to plan accordingly for the six-hour disruption and has apologized for any inconvenience the essential maintenance work may cause.
Emergency Fault Hits Power Supply in Gbawe
In a separate development, the ECG’s Accra West Region has reported an unplanned power outage currently affecting parts of Gbawe.
According to an emergency statement released on Thursday, the interruption was triggered by a technical fault on a transformer serving the area. The affected communities include Gbawe Cee Connie, Policeman, Gbawe Gravel Junction, and their surrounding neighbourhoods.
The company has assured affected customers that its engineering teams are working diligently to rectify the fault and restore power as quickly as possible. An apology has been extended to all customers enduring the disruption, with ECG reiterating its commitment to minimizing inconvenience while repairs are underway.
The utility provider emphasized that both planned upgrades and emergency interventions are critical to ensuring the long-term reliability and safety of the power network across the country.
