The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a series of planned and emergency maintenance exercises scheduled for Thursday, March 26, 2026, that will disrupt power supply to numerous communities across six regions.
According to advisories from the power distributor, the coordinated operations are part of critical infrastructure upgrades aimed at enhancing service reliability and strengthening the stability of the national grid. The outages will begin at varying times across the affected areas, with the duration of interruptions dependent on the scope of work to be carried out.
Central Region
Three separate maintenance operations are scheduled in the Central Region, all running from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. The affected areas include Saltpond Packaging, Mfantsiman Girls Senior High School, Abonko, New Nkusukum, Roman Hospital, Mankessim, Bafikrom, Saltpond Zongo, Kurankyekrom, Kormantse, Otsir Ekurabadze, and Anomabo. A second exercise will impact Ankwanda, Coconut Groove, Gyira Akyinmu, Bantuma, Ayisa, Pershie, and the Nduom Stadium and surrounding communities.
Tema Region
In the Tema Region, a planned maintenance exercise from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm will affect Sege, Koluedor, Zueno, Agbajakope, Kese, Addokope, and surrounding areas.
Accra West Region
An eight-hour planned exercise from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm will affect communities including Olebu, Canada, Anyaa Deeper Life, Mandela, SCC, Sunny Coast, Korkordjor, Kinshasha, and surrounding areas.
Accra East Region
A planned maintenance operation from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm will impact Lakeside Estate Communities 6 and 8, New Legon, Adjirinfanor Village, Adjiringanor Astroturf, Otienshi, Lakeside, Labone SDA, K24, Coffee Shop, parts of Dzorwulu, Alajo, Abelemkpe, parts of East Legon Lagos Avenue, and surrounding areas. Additionally, an emergency maintenance exercise with a rare evening schedule from 9:00 pm to 3:00 pm will affect Abokobi Boi, Comet Estates, and the KNUST City Campus.
Ashanti Region
A major planned operation is scheduled from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, affecting an extensive list of communities including Atwima Agoogo, Mfensi, Mankranso, Kunsu, Sepaase, Nkawie, Mpasaetia, Abuakwa, Abakomade, parts of Tanoso, Pokukrom, Kasapreko, Asonomaso, Manhyia, Koforidua, Tabre, Ntensere, Asempaneye, Manso Nkwanta, Boko, Twedie, Trabuom, Afari, Seidi, Hiawu-Besease, Kontomire, Nnerebehi, Boatenkrom, Bonkwaso, and surrounding areas. A separate emergency maintenance exercise will run from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, affecting Fufuo, Biemso, Adugvama, Mankranso, and Pokukrom.
Western Region
In the Western Region, a planned exercise from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm will affect Apremdo and surrounding areas. A second, extensive emergency maintenance operation from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm will cause a one-hour outage for a sweeping list of communities. These include Esiama and Axim townships, Abura Ahanta, Grel Tsiibu, Ayisekro, Nsien, Miamia, Adiewoso, Kikam, Asamko, Aiyinase township, Awiabo, Atuabo, Maaha Beach, Eikwe Hospital, Nkroful, Asasetre, Tanda, Bakanta, Sanzule, Gwira Banso, Gwira Eshiom, Bamiako, Telekubokazo, Asemkrom, Jema, Boinso, Omanpe, Kwahu, Sewum, Enchi township, Nyankamam, Old and New Yakasi, Achimfo, Adjoum, Akontombra, Nkwanta, Half Assini, Elubo, Banyin, Bawia, Mbem, Samanye, Mpataba, Tikobo 1 and 2, Alawule, Bonyere, Ezinlibo, and surrounding communities.
In its public notices, ECG apologized to all affected customers, acknowledging the inconvenience the technical interventions may cause to domestic and commercial activities. The company, however, assured the public that the exercises are necessary to ensure the long-term robustness of the power network and to ultimately deliver improved service to consumers across the regions.
