The 35th anniversary celebration of the Ejisu Senior High Technical School (SHTS) has been launched with a bold vision for the future, as Chairperson Dr. Beatrice Wiafe Addai proposed a series of transformative legacy projects aimed at bolstering infrastructure and supporting academically gifted but financially disadvantaged students.
Speaking at the ceremony held under the theme “Celebrating 35 Years of Holistic Secondary and Technical Education: The Role of Stakeholders,” Dr. Wiafe Addai described the milestone as a defining moment in the institution’s history, urging stakeholders to look beyond mere celebration toward strategic investment in the school’s future.
A Legacy Beyond Years
Addressing a distinguished gathering of traditional authorities, school leadership, staff, students, alumni, and invited guests, Dr. Wiafe Addai expressed deep honour at chairing what she termed a significant chapter in the life of the school.
“This celebration is not merely about counting years,” she remarked. “It represents 35 years of shaping minds, building practical skills, and transforming the lives of young people who have gone on to become professionals, entrepreneurs, and responsible citizens contributing meaningfully to Ghana’s development.”
She traced the school’s journey from modest beginnings to its current status as a centre of excellence, attributing its growth to the collective dedication of stakeholders over three and a half decades.
Honouring Pillars of Progress
The renowned CEO of Breast Care International took time to acknowledge the critical contributions of various stakeholders who have sustained the school’s mission over the years. She commended teachers for their unwavering dedication to knowledge impartation, praised parents for their trust and support, and recognised government for providing the foundational framework for the school’s expansion.
Special appreciation was reserved for alumni, whom she applauded for carrying the school’s legacy with pride across Ghana and beyond.
A Vision for the Next 35 Years
Emphasising that the anniversary theme underscores the critical role of stakeholder collaboration, Dr. Wiafe Addai stressed that the occasion must serve as a platform to introduce a forward-looking vision for the institution.
“While we celebrate past achievements, we must simultaneously lay the groundwork for the future,” she asserted.
To this end, she unveiled an ambitious package of legacy projects designed to transform the school and ensure sustainable support for generations of students. The proposed initiatives include:
· A 35th Anniversary Infrastructure Project to address critical facility needs
· A Scholarship Scheme to support brilliant but needy students
· Construction and equipping of a modern Technical and ICT Laboratory to prepare students for the digital and industrial economy
· An Alumni Endowment Fund to ensure continuous, sustainable development support
Education for a Changing World
Dr. Wiafe Addai challenged conventional notions of education, arguing that contemporary schooling must transcend the pursuit of academic certificates.
“Today’s education must produce problem-solvers, innovators, and job creators who can respond effectively to the challenges of our modern world,” she explained.
She expressed unwavering confidence in Ejisu SHTS’s potential to emerge as one of Ghana’s leading technical institutions, provided stakeholders continue investing in its growth trajectory.
Call to Action
Making a passionate appeal to alumni, corporate bodies, parents, and friends of the school, Dr. Wiafe Addai urged all to support the proposed legacy projects.
“Let us not only celebrate 35 years,” she declared. “Let us build the next 35 years.”
She encouraged students to remain focused on their education, reminding them that they represent the future of both the school and the nation. She also commended staff for their sacrifices in shaping student destinies and urged alumni to seize the anniversary opportunity to give back to their alma mater.
A Milestone Celebration
In her concluding remarks, Dr. Wiafe Addai congratulated Ejisu Senior High Technical School for reaching the remarkable 35-year milestone and expressed fervent hope that the institution would continue producing leaders who will contribute to Ghana’s development.
She offered prayers for God’s continued blessings upon the school and the nation, bringing the launch ceremony to a spiritually uplifting close.
The anniversary launch sets the stage for a series of activities aimed at fundraising and rallying stakeholder support to transform Dr. Wiafe Addai’s visionary proposals into tangible reality for Ejisu SHTS.
