Don’t rush into marriage, Esther Smith warns Delay

Gospel musician Esther Smith has advised media personality Deloris Frimpong Manso, popularly known as Delay, not to rush into marriage, warning that it could derail her dreams and aspirations.

Speaking on the Delay Show, the “Ma Won Nsan” singer urged the host not to succumb to public pressure to marry. According to Smith, marriage can become an obstacle to achieving one’s goals, especially for prominent women.

Sharing her personal experience, Smith recounted how her own vision was dimmed by marriage. She explained that before her father initiated conversations about marriage, her plans were far from it. However, after marrying Rev. Ahinkan Bonsu—a union that later ended in divorce—things were never the same.

“Don’t let anybody put pressure on you to go into marriage,” Smith said on the show.

She believes marriage can fight against successful women, and without focus, one’s chances in life can be shattered. Smith also emphasised that marriage is not the only path to parenthood, suggesting adoption as an alternative.

“Even if you are not married, you can adopt a child. Don’t marry for someone to play with your heart,” she added.
