Ghana’s World Cup hopes have suffered a catastrophic blow with star attacker Mohammed Kudus officially ruled out of the tournament following a serious hamstring injury relapse.
The 25-year-old Tottenham Hotspur forward, who has been sidelined since January, had recently returned to individual training and shown encouraging progress. However, fresh medical scans have confirmed a relapse that will keep him off the pitch for at least three months — a timeline that extinguishes any chance of featuring at the global showpiece.
Kudus was expected to be a cornerstone of Ghana’s attacking plans in a difficult Group stage that pits the Black Stars against England, Croatia, and Panama. His ability to create chances, score critical goals, and influence tight matches has made him one of the nation’s most indispensable players in recent years.
The injury is also a significant setback for Tottenham and new manager Roberto De Zerbi, who will now have to finish the season without one of his key signings.
Compounding Ghana’s woes, defender Mohammed Salisu has also been confirmed as unavailable for the World Cup, leaving head coach Otto Addo with major gaps both in attack and defense.
The Black Stars’ technical team must now scramble for alternatives as they prepare to compete on football’s biggest stage without two of their most influential players.
