Court grants Counsellor Lutterodt GH¢50,000 bail over inciting comments about Daddy Lumba

The Adenta Circuit Court has granted bail to controversial relationship advisor Cyril George Carstensen Lutterodt, widely known as Counsellor Lutterodt, following his arrest for allegedly inciting youth to storm the residence of late highlife musician Daddy Lumba with pickaxes.

Lutterodt, a biomedical clinical engineer residing at SSNIT Flats in Adenta, Accra, was charged with one count of offensive conduct conducive to the breach of the peace. He pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The court admitted him to bail in the sum of GH¢50,000 with two sureties to be justified.

Viral Video Triggers Arrest

According to prosecution, Lutterodt was arrested after police became aware of a viral video circulating on Facebook. The video, which was shared on the platform Kwesi TV on Monday, March 9, 2026, allegedly captured the accused making inflammatory statements directed at the Ga community in Accra.

The charge sheet quoted Lutterodt as saying: “If it is true that Lumba as it is alleged has been buried in the house, I want to ask the Ga boys in Accra that we shouldn’t wait for the Police, let’s move to the residence of Lumba and I am calling action now for the desecration of the land. Walk to the house with pick axe. We are not fighting any human being, enter the residence of Lumba and let’s find where the body has been buried.”

Prosecutors told the court that following the circulation of the video, another clip emerged showing some youth, believed to be Ga residents, gathering at the late musician’s residence.

Investigations Ongoing

The prosecution indicated that investigations into the matter are still ongoing. The court did not fix a new date for the case, as prosecutors stated they needed additional time to complete their inquiries.

The arrest has sparked public discussion about the boundaries of free speech and the potential consequences of inciteful commentary, particularly when directed at deceased public figures and their families.
