A Ghanaian content creator, Priscilla Ansong, has been remanded in custody by the Adenta Circuit Court following allegations of false publication targeting President John Dramani Mahama and First Lady Lordina Mahama.
The 35-year-old was charged under Section 208(1) of the Criminal Offence Act 1960 (Act 29) for making statements deemed intent on causing fear, panic, and misleading the public.
In a video circulated on social media platform X, Ansong alleged that the President was engaged in extramarital affairs involving young women, including a friend of the First Lady. She further claimed that the First Lady had also been unfaithful, accusing her of provoking the President’s anger.
“The President is sleeping with his wife’s friend. You are sleeping with ladies, what about the house help?” she stated in the video. She added, “First Lady, have you seen what you have caused? You slept with another man and now you have been caught. Mr. President, First Lady is taking revenge and you are angry.”
Ansong also suggested that the alleged claims were widely available, urging viewers to seek them out on YouTube.
The court’s decision to remand her follows legal proceedings initiated over the publication, which authorities determined violated the country’s criminal statutes on false publication.
