The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG), has officially declared a nationwide strike effective Monday, March 9, 2026.
In a directive issued to all its regional and branch secretaries, the leadership of CLOGSAG has instructed its members to withdraw all services and stay away from their posts until further notice. The strike is expected to bring the work of secretariats and administrative departments in the country’s public sector to a halt.
Isaac Bampoe Addo, the Executive Secretary of CLOGSAG, is leading the industrial action.
As of the time of this publication, the specific grievances that led to the strike declaration have not been detailed in the official statement. However, the announcement signals a significant escalation in tensions between the association and the government.
The upcoming strike action by CLOGSAG follows a pattern of recent labour agitations within Ghana’s public sector. It comes on the heels of industrial actions by other unions, including striking railway workers protesting unpaid salaries and the recent indefinite strike declared by the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG), now known as CETAG.
